New Ebay Order- No Paypal Acct

Sold a coin for best offer and was just paid but not with paypal, with a credit card? How can that happen with someone unconfirmed? Member since 2011 and no paypal acct?

Do you all accept these kinds of orders, paid with a credit card and no confirmed address?

Better check with PP BEFORE you ship.

Why do you think you were paid with a credit card?

Did the PayPal email say the funding method was with a Credit Card, or do you have a merchant account where you accept credit cards?

If PayPal sent you an email with the funding method as a CC, it just means your buyer used his credit card.

If you have a merchant account where you accept credit cards directly, then you know how that works.

If you allow checkout thru a merchant processing service, the credit card account can still be verified by the issuer, but it doesn't fall under the PP terms at all.

Is that a new eBay payment option? If so, who would handle the disputes? My parameters are set only to accept PayPal payments..period...If you don't have a PP acct., take your business elsewhere.

disputes, even with paypal are ultimately governed by the issuing credit card companies bank.

In the case of a straight cc payment with out paypal, it goes straight to the card companies bank

"paypal transaction and it says unverified user"

Then play by PayPal's rules. Don't ship until the user is verified by PayPal. Maybe the buyer just added the card prior to the eBay transaction and PayPal is still in process of verifying the address of the user. I believe PayPal does this in similar fashion to how they verify an added bank account, and it can take 24-48 hours. You might actually be able to call PayPal and ask them to confirm that the C.C. account number isn't reported as stolen.

keep in mind that a cc company has no problem reversing the charges on a disputed payment made with a cc ... 1, 4, or even 6 months after the fact, they make it way to easier and easier for thieves to run the internet

First you say it's not a PayPal transaction and then you say it is.
    What's the actual situation?

Since we have conflicting info form the OP a couple more questions

    Is the address is confirmed???

Being unverified is not that big of a deal with paypal. As long as you follow their rules you are covered by seller protection,

    How big is the sale?

If you're concerned, why not call paypal directly?

At the beginning of the year I had a winning bidder for a circulated Morgan who was a long-time Ebay member (Feedback number around 1000) who told me he doesn't have PayPal and wants to pay by money order. He then gave me this huge political spiel with website links about the evil banking system and how Paypal is trying to make this a cashless society. I don't think he saw the irony in paying by money order. Anyway, a hassle. It took several weeks to complete the transaction (receive money order, cash and make sure it's real, etc.). From that point on I have my Ebay settings as Paypal only and also state in my auctions. I prefer to get payment when the auction ends and mail the coin the next day and be done with it.

You could have asked him to email or message the MO serial # and you would know by the time it arrived if it was legit or not.

They've allowed people to pay with paypal without having a paypal account for a long time.

They say the buyer still gets their buyers protection but do not say anything about the seller.

They also say how you can block accepting it:

"To turn the feature on or off, simply log in to PayPal, go to Profile, click ‘Website Payment Preferences’ under the Selling Preferences column and tick the yes/no box under PayPal Account Optional."

I don't like the idea above. Someone can also send you the PCGS cert # so you can "know" if it is legit. It ain't necessarily so.

Tried that. But the bank that the money order was written on didn't have a way to verify by serial # online.

If it's a USPS MO the list of stolen MOs is available online or call your local PO to verify if it's legit.

I assumed it was a USPS MO which can be readily verified.

Might wait and see if ebay opens their own payment place.
    I would.
Unless there's a covenant in the buyout papers.

Crappy situation. eBay has consistently gotten worse over the years.

So, the buyer in fact DID pay with PayPal.

Unverified usually means that the user didn't go through the verification process of PayPal depositing a certain amount (usuall 2 or 3 cents) and then PayPal account owner never verified the transaction thereby proving that s/he had access to the card online.

    I wouldn't worry about it..............

They are, and that is correct. The buyer never linked their bank account and is therefore "unverified." As long as the transaction says it's covered under seller protection in PP then it is safe to ship. BTW, people do NOT have to have a PP account to pay through it, and for feepay sellers to have "seller protection" to ship those orders.

I do not know the answer to that being a Paypal User myself.
However I have seen ads that said you can pay by credit card via PayPal without being a member of PayPal.
Possibly this has to do with the recipient of the funds being a PayPal member..

Update: The "buyer" opened a case against me after he did NOT reply to 3 ( three ) requests to provide me with verification of good funds.

Ebay told me they did not even show me receiving a check, that this is NOT covered by ebay ( image ) but that they would close it in my favor, no feedback etc.

The order was just north of 16K

    Ebay decision:

eBay Customer Support has reviewed the case and made a final decision.

We decided not to issue the buyer a refund. You don't need to do anything else for this case.

    Decision:
This case has been decided in your favor.

    Comments:
This item isn't eligible for eBay Buyer Protection. You don't need to do anything else. Because we decided in your favor, this case, any feedback left, and all detailed seller ratings left, will not affect your seller performance. In addition, any feedback left for this transaction will be removed. Note: It may take up to 24 hours for these updates to reflect in your Seller Dashboard.

You can also view the details of this case in the Resolution Center.

I bought a low-price item on Ebay and after the "Buy it Now", saw that the seller
    only took something called ProPay.

ProPay is a company that processes credit card payments and is approved by Ebay.

I had to contact the seller who sent me an invoice, where I used my credit card.

The transaction was successful and I have my item.
