Is it worthwhile to set up a PO Box for Mint offerings?

I have a PO Box since I am not home during the day and don't want the packages left outside.

Since I pick the most economical shipping for my orders, many times the packages via Fedex Smartpost which results in a week long delivery time. image

Yes they do, but there is NO guarantee that the outfit [FEDEX IIRC] they contract with will deliver them to the box 100% of the time.

I always have my mint orders shipped to my PO box.

In fact I have all my coins shipped there.

If a seller ships using UPS then I just give the physical street address of the post office and add "Unit xxxx" for my PO box number and never had a problem.

    Yes.

I've had a post office box for many years. It is not a good idea to have coins ships to your home. Dealers have a nasty habit of sending ads though the mail with coins all over them. It's sort of like hanging a sign on your house that says, "A coin collector lives here."

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Yes it does. That is what I do. I also have a credit card with the P.O. Box as the billing address that I use when ordering to the box so that the shipping address and the billing address match.

The USPS has a relatively new service which allows a P.O. box holder to list the street address of the box renting branch as an official mailing address for the very purpose of making it possible for the USPS to accept FedEx and UPS packages/letters at the USPS facility. Box holders who desire the service are required to register for the service at the branch. Certain restrictions apply, i.e. the USPS street address cannot be listed publicly as a business address (phone directory, income tax returns, etc.) The U.S. Mint has been shipping most of their products in recent years through contract to PBGS (Pitney - Bowes Ground Service) via FedEx and UPS.

...problems probably would be kept at a minimum...especially when the criminal sees you also have copies of the NRA and guns & ammo delivered along with them...image
