I took a couple classes years ago at your place of employment - aerodynamics for engineers and airplane performance - and was told they would like more commercial airplane test pilots who are also aerodynamicists. Sounds like it is right up your alley!

Blue skies and tailwinds, indeed. Congratulations! Your post caused me to look at my old certificates framed on my wall and I saw my commercial pilot flight test was on 8/24/1987. Chandelles, lazy 8's, on pylon 8's, 1080 spirals...bet you're glad those are behind you now. What's next?

Nice to hear of your love of aviation and congratulations on your achievement. Aviation is the best!!! I play with B747/767/757, A300-600 and MD-11 every night of the week. Also been blessed to know some old iron, the B727 and DC-8's. inside out. Seen and done some spectacular stuff in these fleet type. Best of luck to you!
<< <i>So, When is the stunt pilot going to come out? >>
I like straight-and-level, so I doubt you'll see me doing aerobatics...
<< <i>Hey you ever consider joining the Army? I'm sure they'd let you go to Rotary Flight School, since you're already licenced. >>
I thought briefly about the Air Force Academy. To quote my mother, "You wouldn't make it there... you can't take an order."
<< <i>Congratulations, Jeremy. That's quite an accomplishment. So when do you start making chartered flights of collectors to coin shows? >>
When do you guys chip in to buy me a plane worthy of a charter?
<< <i>I still remember when you flew into the local field near me here in CT so we could do some biz. >>

Yes it is. I showed them the shot next time I saw them at a show (I didn't have it off my camera when I went to the store a few days after I took it)

It's been a thought. Not sure it's the best move for me, but I wouldn't totally rule it out. My mom said she won't fly with me until I get a 747, so this could force her hand...

Not thinking about chandelles, lazy 8's, 8's on pylons, and 1080 spirals for a while
.......just leave your coin daydreaming on the ground! And YES there is NO feeling like tugging back on the yoke and lifting from the runway . Enjoy, age 60 comes WAY too fast
Congratulations and thanks for a neat post/photo from Carson City. I have a number of friends and relatives who are pilots (airplanenuts) and they are even more passionate/crazy/obsessed than coin folks. So many people go through life without finding one thing they are truly passionate about. It's great you have at least two.

Reminds me of my friend that went skydiving for his birthday last month. They were documenting the whole thing with a GoPro before, during, and after. The instructor comes up to him after he was harnessed up and said, "Hey! What are we gonna do here today?!" To which my buddy replied the normal answer, "I guess I......am gonna jump out.......of a perfectly good airplane." Without missing a beat the instructor replied, "Ha! I guess you haven't taken a good look at our airplane huh?"

Very cool. You're living a dream of mine..... always wanted to be a pilot. Maybe I'll still do it after the kids are grown & gone.
I took an introductory flight in a Cessna 152. The guy let me do everything but land. I looked at the newspaper later that week and saw the plane I flew in upside down in a field just outside the airport. Engine failure on takeoff. They walked away, but I took it as a bad omen.
I was going up with a friend in a Cessna 172 and asked if I could take off (I'm Microsoft Flight Simulator certified). He was saying takeoffs can be more problem than landing sometimes. We're going down the runway and there is a noise coming from his side of the plane so he says to me "You take off" and then opens his door and looks down to see what the problem is. It was a seat belt hanging outside banging against the plane. At least we didn't land upside down.
Congratulations Jeremy! Wow, time sure flies (no pun intended). I remember when you first start posting here many years ago. We all knew that you would be very successful in life.
One of my son's best friends is at West Point and everyone who knew him thought he'd have issues with the orders, but he loves it. You could do worse than the Air Force Academy. It'll be a long time before you get to fly civilian F-35s.
A retired employee from Boeing sold me some silver token coins in cases that he was awarded by that company when he worked for them. Still in the shop, but he flew the coup ( went to the lakes) …and still white bright hunks of silver they are. I'd post pictures , but you get the idea. Probably should put it in the precious metal forums, but I'm cool with LAX rules.

When gold and silver move together, it signals the coming end of fiat money.
