I vacillated for 15 minutes, trying to stomach the $400 premium to spot. To tell the truth, I've been vacillating for the past month - one day I'm in, the next day I'm out. Finally, got swallowed up like a lemming in springtime and took the dive:

    In for one, order# 3414xxx at 9:16

FWIW - the order numbers seem to be advancing at a pretty good clip...

First order 3408, so we have already 6000 orders in 16 minutes...

    I smell a quick sell-out.

Does anyone have any experience with budget shipping getting upgraded to expedited for gold/$300+ orders?

I haven't ordered from the mint in a while and didn't know that they have a budget option now. I thought the default would be standard. The website seems to state it will only upgrade to ground shipping.

I got in immediately (I was just clicking my mouse and refresh the last minute and when it became available to add to cart, I did, chose my CC, entered my CVV and clicked the box, then was done).
I see some early numbers and, without posting my last 2 digits, I am curious if anyone was in before me on these. I know, from seeing some of the protected order numbers, that others are within 99 of me, maybe before me, maybe after. So far, it is unlikely that anyone was before me, or, if they were, maybe 1, maybe 2 people. Pretty cool....to me....as I am usually one of those locked out for awhile until things slow down.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Sold out of their current stock.

It's a new stupid way the Mint handles this now, instead of just putting your order on back order, they want you to come back in a few weeks and put an order in when they get more stock.

I think they lose tons of orders this way as the excitement goes away... but whatever.

Now that they're gone a lot depends on what gold does in the next few months. Buying on the secondary market this summer will be expensive. If gold's $1000 this fall a slabbed 69 might be had for $1100.
