Found this locket while renovating my 1920s house

I was painting the living room the other day and found this locket wedged between the floor and the wall. It was previously concealed by the baseboard.
The locket looks old to me. My house is from the 1920s; but, I'm sure this particular floor has been redone at least twice in recent decades.
The inside of the locket is marked 14KT with a horizontal line below the K and an additional K under this horizontal line. Instead of a horizontal line, I suppose the extra markings could be a stylized TK. All the markings appear to be done by hand, not stamped.
I'm curious how old this thing is and whether it is actually gold. It gives a low tone on the Etrac like gold and looks good to me, except for the hinge pin having some verdigris on it.

Great find!
Would've been neat if there had been someone's photo in there.
