I am going to style and profile like never before...Wooooo..Meeting Ric Flair tomorrow night for an

So this is really a crazy situation and I can't believe it is soon to be a reality. Last Friday night I was sitting on the couch and saw a Ric Flair post pop up on my Facebook page. I had a few chances to drive to events over the past few years to see Dusty Rhodes and procrastinated not really thinking his time on this earth was limited. With his sudden passing it got me to thinking I would jump at the chance to meet Ric Flair.

I decided to contact his agent and see if Ric did private meetings and to inquire about the cost if he did. I explained I live in Orlando, FL and that his daughter was obviously performing for WWE in NXT and perhaps sometime he would be in town. Late Monday afternoon I was in training for a new software roll out and got a message back from his agent Melinda. She said Ric was in town visiting his daughter and to give her a call. Needless to say we put together a deal and I am meeting him tomorrow night at 5PM for an hour. My wife and I will be heading out to the hotel he is staying at and will get to spend an hour with him and get five items signed and take some pics.

During our emails back and forth I sent her pics of one of my copies of his 1982 Wrestling All Stars PSA 10's and the page in the SMR that I have wanted to get signed. I have already had Hogan sign his card and Ric is on the opposite page and said I wanted to show Ric a copy of one of his best cards and apparently he is excited about the meeting.

I am still in shock that this is happening and can't wait to spend some time chatting with my main man The Nature Boy.

A few years ago JWeiston got some Wrestling All Stars signed for me in Chicago and I don't have any I want to crack out so I went through my other Flair related items and I narrowed it down to these five and here they are in no particular order.

As I said above I want to get his card signed in a copy of the SMR that came out in 2012 and features his card from the 1982 Wrestling All Stars Series A.

This program is from 1981 and came out right after he won his first NWA world title from Dusty Rhodes. You will also notice it is the photo used for his card.

image

This is an over sized disk that came from Japan and I believe it was released in 1983.

image

Ric's home territory was Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling and this is the magazine that came out right after he won the title announcing him as the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

image

The first and only time I have met Ric was backstage at TNA wrestling in Orlando a few years ago. I got him to sign a copy of his 1986 Carnation Major League Wrestling card. I just cracked this out tonight from a PSA 6 holder. When I first opened the package a year or so ago I thought I had struck gold until I turned it over and saw a lifted edge on the lower reverse.

image

I am taking one of my PSA 10's and want to get a pic with Ric holding it up. I just think that will be super cool and she said he will love it.

Once I get back from the meeting with him I will update the thread and post some photos. I am really excited about this!

    $5K I would imagine--no matter--great opportunity to meet a sports hero--have a great time!!
  • Those old wrestlers put their bodies through heck over the years. We never know when another one of the greats is going to leave us. We have lost so many of them already. I agree with your thinking that if the opportunity presents its self, one better jump before it's too late. Have fun, and be sure to come back and tell us about your experience!

I have been reading up on the Nature Boy tonight from his wiki page and a few things stick out.

One, his robe he wore at Wrestlemania 24 in Orlando which I took my dad, brother, and wife to is in the National Museum of American History under the Pop Culture section.

Two, the night I won my first Ric Flair PSA 10 was July 11th 2010 when Ric Flair returned to the ring to face Jay Lethal. I was in attendance and was sitting right on the ramp reciting "You're looking at the greatest wrestler, The best looking man, The best dressed man, Long limousines, Jet airplanes, Custom made clothes, and Any woman in the world I want, Just like that" as Ric made his way to the ring. Shortly there after I got home and saw I captured the gold.

    You're Looking At The Man

Thanks guys. Ric Flair wouldn't snipe. He would just put them in the figure four and grab the ropes for extra leverage and make them quit. Haha.

    << <i>choose your sharpies carefully. >>

I was going to go with blue on most of these.

    Got any suggestions?

The disk and Mid Atlantic Magazine look a little tricky.

I would make color copies and grab every color...even silver and gold and give it test runs. not only that, exact places where to sign. that black mag and menko disc could prove to be troublesome and ya don't want to look flustered in front of the nature boy!

I'm might be as excited that you get to meet him almost as much as you are to actually meet him. Ric Flair and Roddy Piper were my two favorites. Enjoy every second!!!!

I met him at a signing a few years ago. Got my pic with him holding up the 4 fingers. I think it would be neat if you showed him your cards and got him to comment on each wrestler. His thoughts on each one and maybe a story or two. You will have a blast. I'm sure he will be buying drinks left and right. Ha. Whatever you do, I'm sure you will be entertained. Enjoy!!!

This is awesome. After seeing some of the custom cards that people on this forum have made or have had made for them, I'd even consider having him sign a blank index card and have someone create a custom for you with the picture / quote / slogan of your choice on it to go along with his signature.

Ric Flair was either at a Sun Times show or the National and I remember watching him interact with the fans and he was awesome. Some lady even asked him to do his famous "WOOOOOOOOO" right in her face and he obliged. I thought that was neat! I hope you enjoy your time with him. Post lots of pictures!

Rumor has it when Ric walked into the lobby and saw Dave ... THIS was Ric's reaction:

And I think drink #6 went something like THIS:

And when Dave told Ric he had to leave, well, Ric was a bit upset. See for yourself:
