I don't dab in US coins much but I saw this one and got it for 31$ so I scooped it up.
Any opinions would be great

Looks pretty nice for a 63. Can you show a close-up of the doubling?

I don't have it in hand yet but here are the other two pictures

I can't see anything on those either. If it's in the CPG I will look there.

Gonna need the 100X blow up pictures and the little red or black arrows showing us where to look for the traces of the doubling.

It's fairly evident on LIBERTY and the date if it's an early or middle die state.

Where were these found? Rolls, bank boxes? Mint sets?

I thought about picking one of these up for my Type Set, but PCGS does not recognize the "variety"...whoa! if it has a FS-XXX then they (PCGS) are supposed to recognize them...THEY DO!

    Excellent pick up!

Quite frankly. I'm surprised that the coin even made the list.

By that, I mean that, even though it is a doubled die, it's really, really, difficult to see even with magnification and lighting. There are many. many other modern coins which have much more dramatic doubling.

PCGS most certainly recognizes the variety. Coin Number 4164 will be slabbed as "Peace Medal-Dbld Die Obv". For an additional $20, it can also be slabbed under coin number 519985 with an FS-101 CPG number but why waste the money?

44 have been slabbed as 4164 and 2 have been slabbed as 519985

Folks should understand that there was "life" before the CPG.

They seem to be pretty common, and MS-63's that I've sold and seen others sell are in the $30 price range. The doubling looks much nicer on early die state examples, but it difficult to see on the later die state examples.
