GTG: 2 GSA dollasr newps - 1881-CC & 1885-CC

These 2 GSA dollars are both raw. please guess what it would grade at (not sure if I'm gonna submit it for grading or if it's even worth slabbing, just curious to see how my opinion compares to yours).

the pics are not great, i know. these are iPhone pics, best I can do . some of the marks/hits look more serious in the pics than in hand. Pics make the coins seem a bit flat, but in hand the luster is REALLY nice (on both) and the toning on the 2nd coin is quite vibrant.

any comments/guesses are welcome.

thanks in advance!

First coin is 1885-CC.
Was offered this coin for $475 and I couldn't say no to it!

The second coin is an 1881-CC. Purchased on eBay from GreatToning. Very happy with the way it looks in hand. Paid ~$475 which I think was a fair deal for a very nice coin. What do you think?

I'd say 63 for both. Hard to tell about the first one. The first pics made me think 63 but the second made me think 65. The next coin seems like a solid 63 though.

(edited since I first looked at pics on my phone and now I can see them on a full screen).

    Yonico,

Congrats on picking up a couple of nice original GSA Carson City Morgan Dollars and for sharing them with us.

    1881-CC MS-63 - Nice colorfully toned reverse

In reply to your question, it seems that you purchased each coin for a fair price, and got the better deal on the 1885-CC which has a higher market value in MS-62 to 63 Grades. See following Heritage Auction Value Index Price Ranges for reference:

    1881-CC: MS-62 ($385-495); MS-63 ($405-520)
    1885-CC: MS-62 ($650-800); MS-63 ($675-825)

I hope that this information is helpful.

    Thanks all for your comments!

I'm happy to see that I was not very far in my grade opinion from most of you guys.

I thought the 1885 is a 63, and the 1881 a 63+ with a shot at 64. This is of course considering that the GSA dollars get a special treatment from the TPG's. If they were not in GSA holders, I would call these a 62 and 63, I think.
