Need your confirmation that I have a counterfeit 1795 half dollar.

All the die markers are there for a genuine 1795 half (die chip above last star) but the rim is without lettering and to me this wrong.

I suspect this is a counterfeit.

Can we be absolute about this conclusion?

    I believe that coin is not authentic. If the edges were shaved to make them that smooth (as was done sometimes way back in the day) without any evidence of underlying letters, the distance between the denticles and the edge of the rim would be alot narrower.
