Wow - has both grade rarity and absolute rarity going for it, along with fantastic eye appeal.....and you made a gutsy trade to acquire it. My hat's off to you!
Awesome coin!! Congratulations on a great trade - I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity, even when the quantity was also of quality. I also suspect your new coin will be more liquid than you may be anticipating.

Congratulations Brian ! I feel a connection to your move, based on the opinion I shared privately with you. Someday I'll post the details of my similar success, but for now the spotlight belongs to you. Kudos!

<< <i>At the time to sell, no buyer will be considering the consistency of my set, only the virtues of each coin individually, an perhaps the two Milas coins as a pair. >>
While I actually love the story, and now, after assembling a set of my only true desire - SLQs - I look back and wonder if I should have bought a few several thousand dollar coins rather than many hundred and several hundred dollar coins. The opportunity just passed on a 23-S in a Heritage auction. The coin went for $5k. I thought "Maybe I should sell 5-8 of my coins to buy this".
Anyway, since I don't think your set will ever sell as a set, consistency doesn't really matter.
As long as you're happy now, that's what counts. I often re-evaluate what I have and what I should be doing. This was a bold move and I can appreciate that.
Very neat set, I actually had an 1842 C $5 small date walk into the store on Thursday. It came in a bunch of pre war gold, some from New Orleans, some Philly, once i saw the C, I was hoping to see a D as well on the last coin, no such luck.. But it was without the cud, so die #1.

<< <i>Super super nice coins. Congrats. Did the "C" mintmark fall off of the reverse of that Small Letters one? >>
It landed on this one... Not exactly a matching set but oh well. I hate the value of the small date Charlotte so EF it is.

A mentor once told me to be careful with gem's, they make the rest of your coins not look as nice and can be addicting.
