A big battle being fought in NY courts.

I just got word today that a group of N.Y. coin dealers have obtained a temporary federal injunction in May against application of and enforcement of 2nd hand collectibles purchase reporting laws in at least part of, if not all of N.Y. state. My understanding is that a well funded group had submitted multiple applications on various aspects of these laws, with emphasis on the basis of these laws being in direct violation of Federal Privacy laws. Anyone else hear anything about this ? I did also get a report that the Erie County (Buffalo, NY) Legislature passed a new ordinance with highly restrictive terms this week, possibly being mitigated already by the temporary injunction.

The name of a former employer in Albany was mentioned as one of the dealers/plaintiffs. I'll be calling him Monday to inquire.
