My March pack sub just popped and I was very pleased with the grades. I submitted a mix of wax and cello packs, both Topps and OPC.

I've been meaning to call PSA and ask, but instead, I figure I'll throw my question out here. Is PSA back in the business of loose gum wax pack grading or did you throw all these packs into the microwave for 15 seconds?

Great packs Tim especially the Yount and Lynn!

It has been my experience they are grading the loose gum packs again. I sent in a couple Bird/Magics I had with loose gum sitting in GAI holders a few months ago and they came back just fine. So please spread the word the microwave is no place to put your wax packs anymore!!

Excellent grades from great years! I may have to hit you up for one of those 1976 OPC packs. My lone example has a shard of coming coming out of the bottom. Ugh.

Greg, that is an interesting question~I would have to say that for me, personally, it is a bit easier to get gem mint grades on cards, at least percentage wise, as I typically get a few 10s on subs consisting of cards submitted from this era (1975-1980), which is my collecting sweet spot, whereas PSA 10s on packs are pretty few and far between.

Here are a few scans of my favorites from this sub. One thing I did notice about the graded wax packs~there is noticably more space in the holder between where the pack sits in the case and the front of the holder itself than with packs I've had graded previously, so I'm wondering if this was the holder change that was previously being discussed.

How are cello packs grade determined? Just the centering of the top card? Plus clear and untorn cellophane? Do corners matter?

Largentcollector, cello pack grading is based primartily on condition of the wrapper and whether there are any rips, tears, splits, etc. in the cello, the seal on back, and to a lesser extent, the centering of card on top. The condition of the visible card is not so much a factor in the grade but the condition of the pack itself.

Viewing scans of other people's submission results has to be my most favorite thing on these boards. I love seeing great cards and packs correctly graded and protected.

seeing Tim's Yount Pack made me think of this old sub, man I wish I still had all of these today ........ The couple without grades were originally 9's which were destroyed in the PSA holders from the gum moving and PSA had to buy them back, I ended up opening both of them.
