PVC on Gold

I have used acetone on silver before, but never on gold. I bought a $5 liberty that has a small touch of PVC on the reverse. Just want to make sure I can dip old gold in acetone same as silver. Thanks

You can dip gold in just about anything except aqua regia. However, I've never seen PVC affecting gold. I've not seen it all, but I didn't think that happened.
That's my understanding also.

If old gold has been exposed or in a flip containing PVC for an extended period of time, the copper alloy in the gold could react, no? That is also where carbon spots come from, so I would assume that PVC can affect old gold...just my opinion and thought.
<< <i>you should be fine dipping it in acetone. it will come right off. >>

Just removed PVC from some gold 5's and 10's the other day. It looks just like it does on silver; green, slimy goo.
I have pulled empty pvc flips from safe deposit boxes that were full of green slime.
As mentioned, the pvc could harm the copper in the gold if not mixed well.
