Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
<< <i>What is an 1841-O "baseball reverse" half dollar? >>
A pair of curved die cracks from rim to rim on the reverse, simulating the "seams" on a baseball.
This particular coin has some old and deep reverse scratches. Also looks the obverse was hammered with something. Is this var. still worth $205 with that kind of damage? One person hit the BIN for $205. I would disagree with the seller on the "small" reverse scratch.
I agree with roadrunner that the scratch is significant, though at least, it's very old and well-blended. Less damaging, yet brighter and newer scratches, would bother me a great deal more. Nothing I dislike more than bright, wispy marks disturbing an otherwise nice, even gray circ silver surface. Agh!
An xf45 sold for $3000 recently. I think that coin scratched is still worth $1500+. It was an auction too- not a BIN. Kicking myself for missing that one!

I did not get it, but I picked an XF45+, totally original, off eBay several years ago. The purchase price: exactly $205. I guess that's what these go for.

It was originally listed as an auction and an hour after it was listed I sent a message to the seller and asked if he would consider adding a buy it now option.
He immediately replied yes and I patiently waited for the BIN to be added and clicked it immediately.
It is a truly spectacular coin even with the scratch which is well toned over. Most likely in the top 3 to 6 in existence with regard to details and it is the very late die state which is even better.
I have owned five of these over the years and this is the highest graded example I have ever owned.

Not for price wise just don't like to buy problem coins that much.

According to this it sold for the BIN - no other bids. Everyone was sleeping I guess.

Congrads, btw I was berated my a member here for doing the exact same thing, he told me I did a bad and shameful thing, I disagreed. >>
Yes, there is nothing wrong with asking a dealer who wants to sell a coin to actually sell a coin.
