Not everyone has a good eye for grading. (Submission)

This person should probably ask for someones else's opinion before he/she tries this again. The fast turnaround makes me think it was not economy service either, but who knows. No it's not my order!

when i see dates like that, the first thought, vams.

although, no attributions that i see.

but not everyone wants/needs them attrib.

no grade details is odd too. ie. xf details etc.

perhaps a noob just like you think. who knows.

My first reaction to seeing those results was someone has been buying stuff from 2-page advertisers in coin publications.
    When in doubt, don't.

The details grade does not show up on the summary page. It will, however, show on the individual coin's cert verification page. For example, the first coin in the above submission has an AU Details grade.

There was a time years ago when I searched eBay for pre-1972 proof sets for deep cameo proofs.

I made a record number of PR66 and PR67's. image

Given that it's eight coins, it seems likely it was a Collector's Club voucher submission. Not the end of the world,
as long as the person learned from the experience.

Thay is what I was thinking...8 coin voucher. Quick turn around? Pre Long Beach rush.

Pretending it is CC membership. If you guys don't think $250 + at least $50 shipping and handling both ways, to get an 1888 Morgan back in XF is not that bad, call me and lets make some deals! image

PS, not VAM's, just normal coins as is obvious by the PCGS coin #.

Firstly, $69 of the cost you quote is the basic cost of joining CC. Secondly, the experience is likely to SAVE
the submitter many, many times the roughly $200 "wasted" in future purchases he WON'T be making as long
as he learns something from this.

The XF40 just adds insult to injury here. Like I said, time to start asking some questions/opinions.

    Many happy BST transactions

you probably shouldn't be too fast to criticize or laugh at whoever it is. most of the responses thus far are from members who weren't here when MadMarty had the nickname of Mr. AU58 for his uncanny ability at finding coins that graded at that level, and a lot of them were Franklins. he kept at it and became adept enough with the series to holder a $10k coin.

my point is that we all have to start somewhere and I am no different. my tuition has STILL not all been paid.

I just hope this isn't a collector who just had his love of collecting destroyed by the realization that he was taken advantage by an unscrupulous dealer/seller.

what, the attitude that a cleaned coin is ruined?

It's possible that the coins were sentimental and the submitter just wanted them preserved. That's the best case I can surmise. As for the tuition comments, AU58 and cleaned I understand, but no one needs to pay to learn the difference between XF and MS. That's not a subtle difference.

Most likely ,not a forum member.. best guess, a newbie to collecting coins.... just like stated above,,, learning money ... you all need to get off the platform.
