Middle ground.

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
I've collected for long enough to understand that collectors NEED dealers and dealers NEED collectors. If there some middle ground out there that can be found where each group doesn't view the other with suspicion and contempt?? I think there is but it apparently eludes the masses and works towards everyone's detriment.

If Rodney King was a collector what would he have sought and who would he have contacted to get it?? Questions like these keep me up at night.image

Of course there is, and most of the successful dealers and collectors operate in it. But hearing about the occasional ends of the spectrum that causes both parties to drink makes for entertaining reading.

BTW keets, some of your recent posts and threads on this topic have been very illuminating on the dealer side of things, at least for me - thanks! image

I agree. Just like in politics, neighborhoods, and on the playground, the silent majority living perfectly normal lives are ignored.

At this advanced stage in the game; I tolerate rudeness, greed & lack of quality material and/or selection not very well, at all.

You give me respect....I give it back.

There are only about 3 dealers that I work with on a regular basis that meet my needs and that I have the utmost respect for. I don't even fool with the others, unless they get something that I really need for a decent price, which is once in a blue moon or never.

I find things from various dealers on Ebay and from Heritage from time to time but these occurrences are becoming more and more infrequent.

There is a local dealer that I like a lot, as he is a really decent fellow, and I would love to throw him some business but he never has what I need. Besides, he gets his stuff from the same shows that I attend and from the same online auctions that I watch, so why bother?

Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I find most dealers to be fair... there are three that I will not do business with....two because of ridiculous prices and one because he is an anal aperture. Cheers, RickO
