Please elaborate. I am not a gold guy. I glanced at the coin and it looked like a decent coin to me. Maybe a tad over graded but what else don't you like? I would love to hear your assessment of the surfaces, color etc.
I will add that I am on a tablet and may not be seeing a good representation but I will check later on a better monitor. Just thought I'd try to learn a little something.

To me the color of the coin as well as the surfaces are flat and it lack character. A n 1846-D QE should have a nice green gold color and preferably have some retained dirt or crust. It has likely been cleaned in the past and while market acceptable, it is just a run of the mill coin without the holder that would struggle to grade EF40 today.

I know the feeling! In the past I have found a couple of doily RE half dollars and they were all abused to heck and back.
