1 Kran AH1286 (1869) Shiraz silver coin minted during the reign of Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar. He was the King of Persia from 1848 to 1896 when he was assassinated. He was the third longest reigning monarch in Iranian history after Shapur II of the Sassanid dynasty and Tahmasp I of the Safavid Dynasty. Nasser al-Din Shah had sovereign power for close to 50 years and was also the first Iranian monarch to ever visit Europe.

I like Qajar dynasty Persian coins because they relate to the early history of the Baha'i Faith, in which I brought up .
Of course Nasir-al-Din Shah was one the great villains of early Babi and Baha'i history. But that doesn't make him or his era any less interesting.
I will probably be getting a gold toman from this period eventually.
