This might be a keeper - Morgan buck newp PICS ADDED GRADES IN

clarkbar04clarkbar04 Posts: 4,969 ✭✭✭✭✭
Luck be a lady liberty tonight. NGC gave it a 64+DPL which is the only one they've assigned the 64+ imageNGC Cert lookup

(Sellers photos)
Was listed with not much description, but the pic did most of the talking. I am kind of making the assumption that the scratch behind the eye is on the holder since this style tends to get beat up pretty easily, at least in my experience. (sure would like a DMPL, I've never owned one before.) I realize full well it is hard to make an accurate grade guess from these, but the cheek looks really clean.

Will post updated photos when it arrives.

Any feedback and/or opinions welcome, no matter how much I don't like them. image

Good point about the lighting, I know what you mean and do not bid on the raw PL/DMPL sellers auctions. This Ebay seller is not a regular coin seller so I don't think any lighting trickery was intentional.

I'm not into it for too much so if it turns out to be a dog i will probably just dump it.

Looks like a nice Morgan overall with whole lot of potential to be quite a bit above average. Good luck!

I would agree with 63 or 64 assuming there are no hairlines or other issues hiding in the pic. I think the pic was taken this way for a reason, could be to hide something or to give the illusion of some mirrors. Hope it works out for you and looking forward to seeing the updated pics.

Turned out to be pretty nice - except for the rim dings, worst one is above the "N" in unum. Would this grade, and how much would the rim dings affect the grade assuming it did?

What does the reverse look like in you r own pics? If it looks like the obverse, MS64 PL with shot at DM. I give it a coin flip on rim damage also.

Reverse is equally as reflective as the obverse. If you were into this for say 65 bucks what would you do with it? Reverse photo was taken in a different place than the obverse so it looks a little different.

Figured it was going to be worse than the opinions that have been posted so far - I was actually going to return this!

    I appreciate the feedback.

If you post the link to the auction, a lot more can be learned. For instance, why isn't it graded, especially if the seller has graded items.

Have you submitted this for grading?? Cheers, RickO
