    Assuming the 2x2 is cardboard, then I think so. But then again I got a D in high school Chemistry...

    But what if it is a self stick 2x2 then you have the adhesive which might break down as it gets wet. So then the coin might sink while the holder stays afloat - at least for a while.

    For anything to float on water, it needs to weigh less than the amount of water that it displaces.
