Two Pogue coins that I really appreciate that are not classic ultra rarities....

There are a lot of coins that I love in the Pogue collection. We can talk all day about the 1804 Dollars, 1854-S & 1822 Half Eagles, the Gem baby eagle Halves but these two really do it for me. I appreciate them and wonder how in the world these coins survive like this for 200 years.

The 1807 Half Eagle is PCGS graded MS67+. Look at that luster! Utter perfection. I have not seen the coin in person, but I could get lost by swirling that coin under a strong light.

The 1818 Half Eagle is PCGS graded MS66. Its the Eliasberg coin. I have been in love with this coin ever since I was a kid and first received the Eliasberg sale catalogue. Look at that strike, you can see Liberty's throat. Graded raw MS67 in the sale, degradeflation?

Enjoy:

Beautiful coins, if not rarities in the absolute sense, certainly rarities in that superb condition.

    That 1807 is totally hardcore.

Coins of beauty, but poor ugly Miss Liberty on the 1818. I just can't imagine why it was necessary to make her so mannish in appearance! image

    SethChandler...
You are spot on again. Beautiful pieces...
I love both, although I always have a bias towards Fat Heads. I see it is BD-3, the least available 5D/50 variety.
Thanks for posting the pics, made my day.

Both are magnificent, I would be proud to own either one if I had the funds.
