Charlotte Gold - 1839-C QE PCGS VF-20 OGH is SOLD / 1802/1 Half Eagle $5 NGC AU55 is ON HOLD

This time, I'm posting an old friend to the collection - been in the fold since the Summer of 1993. Submitted to PCGS sometime during the year 1996 and has been in its current OGH holder since. This 1839-C QE is a nice, VF coin with all the meat you'd expect of a VF-25/30 by today's standards. It still retains its old time, coppery color and hasn't been dipped/stripped or brightened. Not many have crossed the block in the VF-20 grade, but the VF-25 to 30 grades, what few there have been, run the gamut between $2650 up to $3500+ in recent years. I'm asking $2250 - PAYPAL ok plus 3%, shipped via USPS Registered Mail. As always, if you don't love the coin, I'll refund the purchase price! Coin is SOLD!

I've decided to lighten some of SBD a bit, and am letting this lovely 1802/1 Half Eagle (centered "2" over "1" variety) go. It's an interesting date in that the still-very young Philly mint was busy churning out Eagles in 1801, and although they prepared dies to produce Half Eagles that year, they never got around to it. Soon enough, 1802 rolled around, and the mint was sitting on several unused 1801 Half Eagle dies. What to do? Easy answer, just engrave a "2" over the "1", and instant birth of an overdate. This coin has very appealing, deep & original coloration with no heavy hits or adjustment marks. Only two small ticks located in Liberty's cap are noted for accuracy. The reverse has a decided amount of luster, which shows a bit better from underneath the natural toning. Asking $9900, shipped via Registered USPS, with full refund of purchase price if not completely satisfied. Please PM if interested or if you have any questions. The 1802/1 is ON HOLD.
