Your coin is not a doubled die, and it is not the variety in your link. You're probably being fooled by lighting. If in doubt, compare the "GOD WE" of your coin to the variety you think you have.
    There a big difference

I concur. The differences are very apparent between your coin and the 1DO-001.

I can re-shot the images, I think whats going on with the images I posted, their out of plumb, ( in god ) coppercoins images are leaning back more, sometime its hard to match the plumb level, leveling is always easy.. Thanks again everybody...

What are you trying to say here? I'm lost.

This is unfortunately not a doubled die. Better photographs will not transform this normal coin into the variety you are hoping it to be. I have handled many examples of 1983 ddo FS-101, and I can tell you that you will know you have one when it is in front of you. I would suggest buying an about uncirculated example which you can find fairly easily on ebay or even here among forum members. You'll probably be able to score one raw for 20 dollars or so. Keep it as a reference for what a true doubled die obverse looks, one that is still considered significant, but not "major" like is the case for the 83 doubled die reverse or the famous ddos from 72 and 55.

    Good luck

  • The spread should be toward the left side of the letters in GOD, not above. Most dramatically inside the O and D.

I take all my images with no artificially lighting, only lights are from the dino-scope, I'm going to add some lighting to the new images, just like on coppercoins site... It will make a big difference in the images...

The lighting may enhance your photos but it will not transform your coin into a double-die. You should accept this as fact and take DCW's advice.

I agree your coin is not a DDO. Look at the coppercoins images and note the notching on the lower left corners of the letters in GOD WE TRUST, and on the upper right corners of the letters in LIBERTY. What you are seeing as doubling on your coin is a combination of strike doubling and plating issues , both common on 1983 cents.

In case it helps any, I am the creator and author of coppercoins.com, and you do not have a doubled die. Some of what you are seeing is caused by using more than one light source, and the rest is caused by the split copper plating above the motto - but NONE of it is hub doubling.

In order to have any particular doubled die, your coin must EXACTLY represent the comparison photos published. Not "near it" and not "close" - but EXACT. And yours isn't really even close.

Regardless of the number of images you post, the coin is not going to turn into a doubled die. It's a normal 1983 cent.
