Wow - I've finally figured out how to avoid bad sellers....

Sent an email to a dirt-ball ebay seller tonight.

Please block me so I can't bid on your auctions, just in case I forget who you are down the road.....

Figure it was easier since I can't seem to block sellers. image

Why stop there? Provoke them by threatening a SNAD and chargeback up front on a lot that you don't think is described correctly, but plan on bidding on just to make sure.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

There are moderns and there are classics. Fewer moderns come up with classics. That's a YOU SUCK award in my book.

Does being blocked by a seller hide their auctions, or just keep you from bidding?

Just make super lowball offers on all of his Best Offer listings. If he doesn't have an auto reject minimum, he'll get tired of declining them and block you. image

You can view the auctions, but when you try to buy, it notifies you that your blocked.

So, if you have second thoughts, a friend can bid for you. image

    Even bad sellers make mistakes.

Lakes, but what if the 'dirt-ball' seller ends up posting that perfect uber rare sample slab that you've been lusting after for years?
That's why my hatred is always tempered by shameless situational convenience. image

LOL. I tried that with one Ebay seller that screwed me. And I left them negative FB. But they didn't block me. In fact they changed their ID so they were able to screw me a 2nd time under a new name. It was at the point that I realized what they had done. They still haven't "blocked" me because they don't care about another neg on top of 50 or so. They'd rather screw me for a 3rd time. Apparently this business model works for them.

    that works well image
  • Or you could just make note of the problem and be super careful next time and identify likely scams if that is what is getting your goat. Returns are always possible even if you are tricked. I have sellers who have scammed me numerous times. What to do? You could go online for a review of their business if they show up in internet searchers. "Acme coin company" of Chicago is run by scammers. Beware! They are prone to sell overgraded problem coins as "good" coins in "Acme grading service" holders which are bogus. Avoid at all costs and proceed with caution. They are worse than one armed bandits..."

I know lots of dealers who have sworn off dealing with certain dealers even well established major ones. Or refuse to deal with lots of customers because of something that happened. Personally I don't know where to draw the line, but it is not a good sign when dealers you have transacted with end up in prison of which I know several cases.
