Years ago (May 26, 2003) Coin World published the results of a study where they submitted and resubmitted a set of coins to various TPGs. Does anybody, by chance, have a copy of that article they can image and send to me? I would like to use some of the info as background for a talk I am giving next month. I know it's a long shot ...
Thanks.

<< <i>I don't have it, but see it referenced online a lot. May 26, 2003 was the issue if that helps, not 2007. >>
Thanks, that helps.

If this is the survey you are talking about.
<< <i>The PNG did that in 2002,2004,and 2006. Google which ever year you want
If this is the survey you are talking about. >>
Thanks. PNG did surveys, Coin World sent out coins for grading. I am looking for the grading test results by Coin World.

<< <i>It's been a while since this was done, somebody should do it with 10 coins... submit to PCGS, NGC, ANACS and IGC.
I'd do it, but I don't have $1k to blow on grading fees. >>
You are absolutely right. The ANA should contract a study through their firm that manages the election votes to do a study that tests reproducibility as well as accuracy. I think the membership would support spending the funds to do this kind of study. The trouble is ... I am not convinced the TPGs would want to publicize the results. I was a proponent of this back around 2006 when I was on the ANA staff, but it fell on very deaf ears. It would not surprise me at all if one or more of the TPGs has already done this covertly and has the data for internal use. I would if I were a TPG Emperor.
Edited for spelling ...

<< <i>Have you considered emailing the ANA library and seeing if they can photocopy/scan it for you? >>
Yeah ... that is probably what I will end up doing.

Did you try contacting Coin World? I contacted them several years ago looking for a specific article from an earlier CW edition and they were quite helpful finding it for me and sending me a copy.

Thanks, Perry. When Beth left Coin World, I lost my "inside" connection. I'll contact Steve Roach and see if he can provide some assistance. Good idea.

Since you know the date of the specific issue I would be very surprised if they were unable to help you.

If you can find it there, you are a better person than I am! I tried, but could not scare up anything remotely relevant.

...hmmmm, I wonder about that. Perhaps calling them and ask what's up with the archives?
