Seemed like they were in interesting item when the first came out and most people didn't seem interested at the time.
After they were no longer available, did they get interesting?

The 1996-W dime, with a similar mintage, sells for around $14. Quite a difference from "S" quarters, which can be found for around 75 cents each.

How often are they offered as single coins? I could never get this concept of buying and selling sealed rolls and bags of coins that you never see. So far I'm concerned you might as well save some money buy some rods of iron or some other metal.

You can only buy rolls and bags if you want a single you need to see if Ebay has them. But I don't like picked over coins that I can get straight from the source. The 2 "S" minted coins are 1st Silver and the business strike.

I think this is why they are so inexpensive now, and why they will be priced much higher when they are more well known. The "S" quarters are currently not included in the annual mint sets, which I don't understand since the mint sets do contain non-circulating halves and dollar coins. Adding the "S" quarters to mint sets would have a mixed effect on their value - it would instantly make them more well known, but would also add to the total mintage of these coins. Ditto for the 3-coin sets of each design.
