What if it's not? Either way I'm shocked someone valued it that high.

From which coin World issue did you read this?

  • It's in the digital edition that I just got from coin world through a email. The story goes it was on lone at an auction house and a offer came in for it and the owner took the offer, not a bad profit since it was just bought on February 8 for 12,000. To turn around and flip it for over 31,000.

It's on coin world.com and it sold for 31,900 at America auction network in St.Petersburg , FLA on February 15

Good for the seller. Variety does nada for me on its own merits...

    Incredible.
It would seem that they are really banking on this being unique. I wonder whether more will turn up.
By way of moderns I'd much rather have a Cheerios Sac - which can be had for a lot less.

ARGH!!! The real coins I could buy with that money!!
  • You can't be anywhere as stupid as the person who bought it for 31 grand.

Different strokes for different folks. Buy what makes you happy, I say.
While it sounds absurd for most collectors to buy a coin dated 2014 for $31,000, it is equally perplexing for most of the general public to fathom spending more than face value on any coin in general.

If offered to me I would pay $1. I wouldn't be joking.

I hear you on that one and couldn't agree more.

However I have 32 I still haven't checked and if I were to find one .... you better believe I'd flip it for the big offer.

Then you could sell it to me for $1.10 and I would sell it for $32K. image

Why wasn't this coin sent to PCGS or NGC?

  • "Why wasn't this coin sent to PCGS or NGC?"

If it's the only one I don't think it really matters , don't think it would drive the price up as it's not the grade on this one.

If it was purchased "raw" for 31K then I would think that the buy took a big gamble. I won't spend that kind of money on it but if I did I would want it in a holder before I purchased it.

<< <i>Feb 8 sale for $12k in ANACS slab at Great Collections

News report of it being certified and consigned to GC >>

I STILL cannot see where it sold for 31 grand.

Both of the above point to the same Feb 8th auction.

Oh, it's a bonus slab error to boot!

But is that a thing now?
    Error Uncirculated, maybe?
    I couldn't tell.

EU69 means Enhanced Uncirculated 69. If you read the description, it is not a normal finish, it has an enhanced finish, which looks kind of cool I think. Not worth $12,000 or $31,000 to me, but still cool looking coin.

As most folks wouldn't but then, they are not error collectors.
I don't think I could even sell you my triple clip IKE for $500.

As most folks who don't appreciate the error would but I'd bet even money that you'd sell it for way more than $1.

Anybody know if all edge letters missing, or just the part shown in coinworld pics?

must be all missing or it would have "weak edge lettering" status.

To truely inspire worship from this crowd you'll need to be the hi bidder on some choice Pouge Coins. And make sure you end
up having paid several multiples of what the Pouges paid.

Bargain buys don't inspire hero worship. image
