Not so sure about that... still seems to have full rims and can still read just about all of the lettering. Lots of room left for wear and the coin would still be easily identifiable. I think no chance at PO-01... I'd guess more like AG03, maybe even G04.

    Pretty neat piece image

Then I'd be interested in any AG03 or G04 commems you may have. Grading lowball commemoratives is sort of a crapshoot, but this is definitely at least a FR02.

PPC (pocketpiececommems) would probably like that one a lot. 'Course he's not the only one who seems to like lowball commems.

Howzit in Buffalo, Don? Is your house buried yet? Stay warm. S'posed to be record cold even down here in SE coastal GA. We'll see 'teens and a hard freeze tonight, though we haven't seen any of that strange white stuff since 1989.

Don't have any AG03 or G04 commems to compare myself, but I can point you to a couple graded examples which may help you to change your grading opinion and help all to see that grading these isn't exactly a crapshoot either.

If you look at the PO01 example in the linked set it has tons more wear than the OP coin...

Then if you look at the AG03 example in the Chesapeake Collection which is the #2 set in that category... it also has more wear than the OP's coin. The OP coin has all letters of LIBERTY present, part of the dual date on the reverse showing. Much more detail in the faces/clothing on the obverse. More detail on the bell, etc...

I'm not sure how consistent the graders are for this type of coin, but I think it's either Fair or AG. I bought the coin to put into my Dansco 7070 album of low grade coins.

Put it in your pocket for a couple of more years.

The problem with me putting it in my pocket for a couple years is there is a 90% chance I would lose it. image

You're not alone. I've lost a Columbian half dollar, First Flight silver dollar (How?!) and a proof silver Connecticut quarter. image

Nice piece! Did you buy it well worn or has this been your daily carry piece?

It makes me feel sad after reminding me I haven't been able to find my 1921 Peace Pocket dollar for a few weeks now. It was in AG on its way to PO...

I'd grade the Sesquicentennial as Fair 2. I wonder how long it was actually carried as a pocket piece? Since those had low relief to begin with it may not have been as long as many seem to suspect.

The Alabama I would call AG3 but, because of the higher relief it may have actually been carried for a longer time.
    All glory is fleeting.
