The first order where I was not fully credited for items returned was maybe a mistake
today it was problem #2. The second order returned where I was not fully credited for the items returned, and the money on top, of course.
I'm currently out well into 4 figures worth of gold and silver and the phone drones are telling me it could take 1-2 weeks to investigate.
Once is a mistake. Twice and I'm thinking someone is stealing inside the returns department, especially with this much gold and silver.
Dispute with the CC was just started today.
Meanwhile I was reassured that the" ''''US Mint'''' does not have thieves" right after I heard it will take 1-2 weeks to investigate the discrepancy.

A real shame, however seems to be a fact of life these days.

Perhaps the US Post Office hired them all?

The Mint won't tell me anything, and it is hard to get to talk with someone of power. They credited me back for 3/4thsof my silver return and only 1/4 of my gold return. Now, who "lost" it is still unknown, but no one told me the package arrived opened. I assumed there is some contractor doing this.
after the Mint receiving the silver return on the 6th and the gold return on the 13th, it took "escalating" this a few times to get things done. Oddly enough, the silver took the longest. I finally received credit for them today, 3 weeks later, and that is over a week after them sending the "your return has been processed" email.
My guess is what it took to this done was actually insisting on talking to a supervisor, then talking to the supervisor. Their "escalations" otherwise didn't seem to do anything.
I guess, like the PO, most things go without a problem, but there are those rare instances of trouble. I am glad I had the shipping records and copies of all the return slips. The CC wanted everything for their dispute process. Had I not received credit today, the paperwork would have been mailed tomorrow.

Long story short, never an issue, they made the refund within a few days.

That makes no sense. If they had reason to doubt your story they should refund nothing, if they believe it they should refund all.
I guess how it was shipped would matter, if it was registered or insured or if it was sent the way they ask for it to be sent.
