Whats going on with the date on this Buffalo??

Is this DDO or machine doubling on this 1914-s Buffalo???

    Machine doubling, but I believe a machine doubled date is also one of the diagnostics for the controversial 1914/3 Buffalo. Are there also clash marks under the chin? Maybe Ron or one of the other members will have some insight.

  • Shelf/strike doubling and nothing special. On the plus side you appear to have a high grade early buff !

    Yes...A full horn...looks AU to my uneducated eye...was hoping for DDO....But better sense led me to believe it was probably machine doubling....

    Yes-machine doubling is found on most examples of Die #1-one of the good ones and the discovery die for the variety.

    Looks like machine doubling to me as well. It also looks like it caught part of the lace closest to the 4 in 1914.
