Does Any Here One Collect Lesher Dollars?

I have fallen in love with these. Does anyone know if any dealers normally stock these coins?

I'd like to, but so far I have just stuck to the Daniel Carr examples which I had some made for my company last year.

Try contacting Paul Cunningham. Last time I visited his table in Baltimore, he had several Lesher's. Be prepared to shell out. They are very pricey. A nice Unc. example of HK-788 0r HK-789 will be in the $2K - $5K range.

I get a few in each year, on average.

I think these are underrated. We probably only get a couple a year as well.

Back in the early 1970's, I would see Lesher dollars on occasion. Dealers said that few people wanted them (I thought they were neat), even though they were cheap, ca. $30-$50 retail.

You wouldn't believe how frustrating it is to shoot this piece. No light seems to be able to give me a clean image through the slab. Don't know if it's the level of detail or the coloring.

Anyway, here's my latest attempt in natural diffused light:

I would like buy one, but the prices have gone through the roof. The pieces I have had a chance to buy have had problems, like filed rims or cleaned, but the holders did not have that problem marked on them. Like other interesting collectables, I think that the opportunity to by decent examples of these pieces has passed by most collectors.

Underrated at more than $4,000 for problem pieces? I don't think so.
