Lakeland, FL Collectorama Show Report

Traffic was terrible getting there today and arrived around 11:45AM. I took the kiddos with me. The kids were afforded the opportunity for a big MONEY GRAB and got lots of stuff to keep them entertained. This mid-sized show has a lot of good people and is very good for the region.

I was there primarily to cherrypick Mercury Dime Varieties. I found a few but the price points for the coins unattributed did not make it worth it. There was a 1937-S in NGC MS67 that happened to be the DDO FS-101. He wanted $250 for it when they sell at auction for less than $120 all the time. I cherrypicked one at FUN, also in an NGC MS67 holder for blue sheet bid which was $120-125 or something like that. I saw a couple of unattributed mint state cleaned raw 1940-S DDO/DDRs the had the obverse die crack but the dealer they were with thought they were super rare and in high demand...and should cost a TON of money...all because of the silly die cracks. LOL. What's even more funny is I saw the same dealer with the same coins two years ago! I think he likes his coins and that is good since he might end up owning them for a few more years. image If the coins were attributed in PCGS holders, they might be worth what he was asking for the fancy die cracks.

I saw a few other things but nothing very exciting. I did run into one forum member and we chatted for a bit while he showed me some of his cool coins/slabs. It was good to see him. We were there for less than two hours and then made the drive home which was much more smooth than the trip there. The kids and I stopped for lunch at one of our favorite spots as well. It has been a very nice day with cool weather.

Oh....I did look for 1919 Mercury Dimes but there was not ONE to be seen in the dealers' cases. Granted, I did not ask to look through low grade/boxes of material. So, no luck in finding the DDO.

No purchases were made but I still had a nice time. image

Same here. Its always been a decent show with an interesting mix of dealers and items available, but I had other plans today that took priority.

Either that or I am really efficient when I have two little ones tugging at me? image

Probably 60+ tables...I just skimmed for Mercury Dimes that were in the cases really. image
