"You were there" on our money

EagleEyeEagleEye Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭✭✭
During the summer I took my family to the D.C. area and when I could I took images of important buildings. The first one is photoshopped because the new $20 bills have the north side of the White House and I took the image from the south side. The pre-1996 have the south side, so I photoshopped one of those into the image. The others are not photoshopped.

I did the same thing in Philadelphia during the 2012 ANA show at Independence Hall, although from the south side of the building.
  • You went too far back with the $20 bill. It does not show the Truman balcony.

We went to Monticello a few years ago. The "house" was smaller than I imagined it would be, but
the grounds were extensive and beautiful.

A $2 Red Seal back would have worked as well.

Got my first Susan B. Anthony dollar while stationed in Germany in 1979. We were pulling guard on the Iron Curtain back in those days in the "Fulda Gap".

Another great post Rick.... thanks.... D.C. is great. I have been there many times, both business and pleasure, and this fall my Navy reunion will be there. Always look forward to visiting D.C. Cheers, RickO

I see that the forum is acting up again. The front page shows a post to this thread by Ricko at 7:07 my time, but I do not see it in the thread. Same thing happened in another thread yesterday.

  • I'm glad you posted that. One of my near future plans is to visit at some point the Smithsonian museums in Washington. I'll have to consider visiting the monuments and getting numismatic counterpart photos as well.

The front page now shows four posts after my "A $2 Red Seal...." post, yet none of them are showing up in the thread itself.

Awesome post! My favorite in a long time.

Now someone has to go on a road trip for the ATB coins (quarter or hockey puck).

There are a load of commemoratives that could get this treatment as well.
