What's with all the downward adjustments?

It's not just the gold.
Some of the Mint's negative sales numbers reported this week can be attributed to last week's drop in the gold price, which gives collectors the opportunity to buy the coins back at lower prices. But proof silver eagles were affected also, and many First Spouse coins saw their sales figures adjusted downward by many more coins than would have been eligible for returns, based on sales figures from recent weeks.
Any theories?

The entire coin market is going sideways at best. I'm guessing that had something to do with these numbers.
Many of the current mint products can be bought in the afternarket just a few short weeks after release for less than the mint sells them for. This also might affect the sales at the mint.
Gold and silver really hadn't moved all that much as of the date of this report. This week they are down, but less than 5%. The mint still has a big premium vs the base metal price.

ammo sales are blooming...yes?

I thought ammo sales were sluggish. I would think that by now most people have all they want. Some folks have a lot of $$ tied in something they may not use up. I don't find much excitement in punchin paper or pokin holes in the sky.
it's mind boggling the amount of numismatic overhang in the marketplace, folks are talking about this huge Pogue coin collection and others coming to market, they are probably dwarfed by the Mint's annual sales figures
wonder what percentage of this stuff sold every year resides in dealer inventories and what percentage is with the final consumer? (well, the "current" final user, everything is on it's way someplace)
every year they make more and more, it suffers very little attrition (it's not like this stuff "circulates" except as collectible merchandise) and it's all piling up out there...

My son works in the ammo department at Cabellas, they are still fighting over 22 ammo, it sells as fast as it hits the shelves.
I would be nervous if I were a firefighter responding to a house fire, I would want to know how many 1000's of rounds of ammo are inside under the TV set or under the sink before entering the property.
