Really?? I don't know DanBessette and have never dealt with him, but Tim is one of the most knowledgeable and helpful guys I have talked to and dealt with since I've been on the boards. He has forgotten more than I'll ever know on 70's and early 80's Topps baseball. Anytime I have a question about something that's the guy I go to. I have also purchased quite a bit off of Tim and his service has been impeccable. I hope this is all a mistake and he finds his way back. The boards need more people like Tim if you ask me, and this isn't a snub at Dan as like I said, I don't know him. Tim is a wealth of knowledge and a true collector.

Always looking for OPC "tape intact" baseball wax boxes, and 1984 OPC baseball PSA 10's for my set. Please PM or email me if you have any available.
The spam/drama thread involving a PWCC auction item seemingly listed by another board member has been poofed.
I read that entire thread though, and never once did I see either of these two men truly act out of line unless I missed something. Maybe I'm a little biased here because as I said, whether he knows it or not, Tim has been an "unofficial mentor" to me as it pertains to 1970's and 1980's Topps baseball as that is what I collect and have a lot to learn as it pertains to those years. I hope it's just a suspension or a timeout and nothing permanent. Since I've been here, I've seen guys do way worse and they are still around. Tim's longevity alone should get him back.

WTH? I only know Tim as one of the gurus on here - I always enjoyed his insights. As for Dan, he helped me out with my 1974 Topps BB set, and is an all around nice guy. I too hope this is temporary.

You gotta be kidding me? I didnt know anything about it, Dan is a nice guy but Ive only had minimal contact with him. Tim on the other hand is right up there with Matt as one of my favorites.
<< <i>On a side note, if you're banned from CU... are you also black listed from submitting cards if you're PSA CC member... or no? >>
I dont know for sure but I would highly doubt that you cant submit cards, the message boards are a privelidge from CU they dont make any money off of anyone posting.
It seems counterproductive to ban members like Grote and Bessette if you want a knowledgeable, vibrant message board. If they posted something unacceptable, use a little discretion and tell them so.
Tim is absolutely a great board member. He helped me so many times when he didn't have to. It's really his "fault" I've started collecting unopened a little bit now.
Wish I had seen the other thread so I had some context, but I gotta believe this is a temporary time out.
Both those guys were great contributors, and clearly they had built some goodwill over their time here.
Let's hope it's only temporary. They are two guys who contribute a LOT to these boards.
I hope The Mod who gave them a time out thinks like this VERY SOON:
STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>I'm confused. I just sent Tim a PM and it appeared to go through normally. Would that be the case if he is banned? >>
he won't be able to read PMs until he gets his password back. that's how i recall it when my ID got sent to the pen. he should anticipate a flood of well-wishers.
hopefully, he didn't claim to have flown in a helicopter with Brian Williams. bad mojo there.
I actually conjured up a reason as to why I wouldn't want Tim back: he has flogged me in fantasy football for two consecutive years, then proceeded to go back-to-back in our 16-team league. All levity aside, in my 2.5+ I've learned more from him than anyone else -- and it's not even close. As far as I'm concerned, he's the linchpin and needs to be here.
Although I don't know Dan well, his passion for cardboard is infectious. Not sure anyone loves the hobby as much as he does. Not to mention, he has been on the giving end of multiple magnanimous deeds, and there's something to be said for that.
I missed that thread but it sounds like I missed something controversial. I did see Tim posting yesterday though and don't know any of the details but I too hope it's something temporary that cooler heads will prevail and their great contributions will return shortly.
Was it due to that deleted thread about PWCC? Did someone throw a temper tantrum about something said? I dont remember seeing anything there that justified a banning. I sure hope it wasnt due to that thread.
<< <i>Did someone throw a temper tantrum about something said? >>
Sorry. Nothing said by me. I got way thicker skin than that. I will let everyone know that the board is indeed being moderated and not like the "wild wild west" like some other boards are. My best advice is to act professionally, treat others as you yourself would want to be treated, and leave the name calling and personal attacks out of things.
So what was the result on the original purpose of the other thread. Did the better looking card, in your opinion, 1972 PSA 9 Ryan end up going for a higher price than the inferior one, in your opinion?
<< <i>So what was the result on the original purpose of the other thread. Did the better looking card, in your opinion, 1972 PSA 9 Ryan end up going for a higher price than the inferior one, in your opinion? >>
If I recall there were some different opinions on which card was the "better" looking card in this case. If one was your consignment then you originally bought the card because of qualities you like to see in cards. Sometimes there can be a clear and unanimous winner when comparing 2 cards. But if the cards are close like this comparison seems to have been then it's up to the bidders to decide which one they like better. While you might have had a strong opinion on which one was better it doesn't mean the top bidders agreed.

+1 Agreed. I don't remember anything in there that warranted banning. Tim getting banned is outrageous.
What am I missing? I don't recall anything they said that would justify their being sent to a time out. If this continues no one will be left here except the alts.

Come on, this is silly! This board can't continue without Tim! If these two have been banned - let's hope it's only temporary. I always thought Dan was an undercover moderator - I can't imagine him saying anything ban-worthy.

Nope.
The only way that happens is if you say some really disparaging stuff about the company or threaten to sue them over petty things.
I know of two, former members that did just that and were blacklisted.
