Group Rip -- New Thread Set Up

HAVING SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS POSTING TONITE--GOING LIVE MAY BE DELAYED

********************************************************************
good morning Gents--here is the final list of product that I think will work. All from BBCE. Steve had some other good stuff which I have added as well. Whatever sells -- sells

Remember--there may be no better way to get authentic vintage unopened product than these group rips. All those members that have purchased in the past have experienced a handsome uptick in value. Buy these direct and get them slabbed is my advice--

I plan to go live at 9:00 PM Thursday--Eastern Time. Do not reserve anything in this thread--there will be a separate thread started at 9:00 Thursday.

Rules will be the same as in the past so far as purchase amounts go--no need to reinvent the wheel. If you are not familiar with them pull up a thread on past group rips. If someone can post them here as well that would be great.

Once again Steve came up big and offered us a 10 % discount on most of the items. Once again Thank You Steve!!

Have fun and get at it !!

PWCC had/has somce nice sealed cases, wax and vending, that would have been to buy on a group rip.

In addition to the traditional group rip, I also like the idea of a group buying some vintange vending boxes (1970-1980) and then selling off lots of 10-20 cards within that box to individuals in the group rip. Perhaps its the gamber side of me, but the thought of having a shot at a vending case fresh 1975 mint Brett rookie or a mint 1978 Molitor, appeals to me, along with some hopefully nice commons. Seems like cost wise, vending box breaks are much cheaper than wax, cello, racks, etc on a per card basis.

Of course, to ensure the integrity of a vending box break/split, best would be to stream it live on the net for all to see. May be too much work, but I would surely buy "spots" in most any 1970s vending box break. Not sure I want to pony up thousands for a full box, but definitely would buy a "spot" within the box

I was just surfing the BBCE web site thinking that it's been a while since we've done a group rip. There's a 1975T Mini, 1978 Wax and Cello, and 1979 cello box all prime for a good rip. I personally would stay away from vending just because it can get a little complicated, but I'd definitely participate in the wax and cello stuff...

What did you see that might interest you from their lots?

Also, I MIGHT be willing to bust a 1975 mini box from the sealed case break we did over the summer.

I'll reach out to cincyredlegs and see if he wants to organize another. If not I'll give it a try.

I think we would need to see a few more affirmative responses from those on this thread to make it happen. I know prices have stabilized and some may think packs are out priced--but good 'ol fashioned unopened is always an excellent value--I assure you

Im totally down for another group rip!
  • I'd be in. I'd love to roll the dice on some more 93 SP boxes. I pulled some pretty nice foils out of the last RIP we did....but no Jeter of course.

Depending on what kind of best offer would be accepted, this one is pretty cool.

Also, this one has the potential for some fun hits.

75 mini wax still seems like a reasonable gamble to me...most of the 77-80 stuff i just cant justify paying current retail(bbce prices), especially $55 a pop for 79 wax...its a shame as this is such a fun set to collect! I wish we could muster up some 70s opc boxes to break, but im not going to hold my breath!
  • vintagefunvintagefun Posts: 1,974 ✭✭✭
I'm probably a sucker for most anything on the menu. Especially the regular entrees.

Would love to see a box or two of 80s OPC HK. Maybe 81D BB or 89S FB?

I'd be up for 75 minis of course~maybe 78 cellos. 78 OPC wax would be interesting, too.

I would be in for a 75 mini break as well - probably the one that price wise would make the most sense.

78 opc is always a blast to open...1200 seems too high for this box though...perhaps bbce would do the 10% discount on this one?

Trying to decide who is in before you decide what to buy doesn't make sense. Gets some items up, find the interest that way. Thats how they are usually done.

    My thoughts...

    1975 Topps mini Baseball
    1978 OPC Baseball
1978 Topps Football (the "unboxed" box)
    1986/87 OPC Hockey

and of course, that 79/80 OPC Hockey box!!! (Just kidding)

There's some smaller stuff that's always fun too... 87 Topps FB, 89 Score FB, early 80s BB.

78, 82, and 83 opc baseball wax boxes, 1985 donruss sealed rack case, 1985 leaf wax box are all appealing to me...

I need some hockey rookies. I would be in for an 85 or 86 OPC packs if that's even an option. Or maybe 2012 Topps chrome football. Or 2000 bowman chrome FB.
