Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Believe it or not there is a very strong market for these , trade dollars are the most common and bring between 200-300 , last morgan which are much more rare brought 700 on ebay. Nice columbian half versions are between 300-400
I think they're pretty neat. They have a little spring loaded latch and pop open when pressed in the right spot. Too small to hold any significant amount of opium, I believe they were meant to hold a photo or a memento like a lock of hair. All the ones I've seen so far are 1877's. $200 seems to be a typical price.
<< <i>I'd have to be high on opium to bid on that. Even then I don't think that I would. >>
I have been looking for an opium dollar for a long time. A really nice example would easily sell for $800-$1000. The junkiest, beat up pieces o' crap still sell in the hundreds of dollars.

These don't have a spring. Just a little interior in-dent that accommodates the edge when depressed.
<< <i>Never judge a book by it's cover. Feel free with a coin. I like the outer cover. It's ugly inside, like a Susan B Anthony. >>
The inner picture is one of someone only a child could love!
