This show is held once a year at a banquet center. The showroom was spacious and well
lit. My main objective was to speak with Giorgio1 about his experience with the very
rare 1964 SMS coins. He was very happy to share his knowledge and was very patient
with my constant salvo of questions. This alone made the drive (200 mile roundtrip )
more than worth wile. I also met John M. Frost who co-wrote with Lane J. Brunner the
recently published book on 20 cent pieces. He had the entire reference set with. The only
way you would have seen more 20 cent coins was to be in the coining room of one of
the mints at time of production. John also shared his knowledge willing and answered
many questions. The reference set was amazing. There was also a dealer there that had
2 show cases filled with mid grade (vg-au) Barber material. I bought a few ASE's and
put this down as a very rewarding show experience.

<< <i>Shamika, this is the club show for "Smoky Mountain Coin Club" and "Fort Loudoun Coin Club ". I wasn't active in coins when the show was at Kebela Temple. I have always heard that was a good show. >>
Indeed, it was a great show. Of course I was looking at it through the eyes of a kid/teenager with very limited funds, but I looked forward to it each year.
Dogwood Festival. Usually the first saturday in May. It was quite active
in the 70's and the 80's. Usually 30-35 dealers. There were two dealers from
Georgia and Alabama who had nice Seated material; bought several pieces
from each over the years. The show faded in the mid 90's.
