1994-P Kennedy with Die Gouges

WindycityWindycity Posts: 3,524 ✭✭✭✭✭
I know many series have collectors looking for significant die varieties including die gouges... not aware of such collectors for the Kennedy series but I found this coin very interesting. It has a series of die gouges (to me it looks like more that just die polish lines) on both the obverse and reverse very noticeable to the naked eye. Haven't seen such coins in the Kennedy series. Images below. Are there collectors of Kennedy die varieties beyond the major doubled dies?

That's pretty cool. I've never seen anything that significant on a Kennedy before.

Is there a Kennedy collectors site like we see for other series? VAMWorld for Morgan and Peace dollars, Ikegroup for Ike, etc.

They look like the Feeder Finger scrapes on coins,
especially State Quarters and Sac/Pres. Dollars,
that have come out of the Mint in the past years.

It's possible that the die has been harshly polished
to take out die clashes, but you usually don't see
die clashes in the field area on the left obv., where
a lot of them are on the coin.

Based on the scans, I'd vote for FF scrapes that were
on the Obv. & Rev. Die itself.

The one rectangular 'gouge' is a bit of mystery though.

I will have to look but I think I saved something similar roll hunting....not quite that neat though. Congrats!
