IKE slabbed in PCGS...what happened here???

I bought this a couple years ago...not worried about the money I spent but I am certainly curious what the heck happened to this coin? Did it turn in the holder? Was it dipped? Could it be putty? If so then why? It was maybe $100 when I bought it as I can't remember and I don't want to dig though stuff to find out the number. Thanks in advance image

I have seen this many times on PCGS graded Ikes. If definitely turned in the holder. I thought PCGS had corrected the issue, but it appear not to be the case with this coin.

Normally this is associated with a finger print, but it does not appear to be the case here.

If you call PCGS Customer Service they should take care of this issue.

    It is not putty

This is not uncommon. This occurs on high end clad Ike too. Lately, I saw a 76-D type one MS67 also having some discoloration spots. I seriously doubt that these spots were there when PCGS graded them.

Thanks boys! This is my only slabbed IKE but I have 2 full Danscos filled (MS&PR) with type2 72 and FE...I even cracked a few out of slabs just to have them in my books image I've never had any of my coins turn in the holder before (I'm chump change with my coins on this Great forum or pretty much any other coin board), but I bought this one already slabbed. I don't expect even a single $1 from PCGS as I wouldn't even take it anyways. It obviously wasn't their fault...so live and learn baby image

...I was more interested in finding out what caused it...also, i did pull it out with other coins I'm selling, but I don't intend on selling it since I know it's gone bad image

If you crack it, acetone may remove the 'stain'....Cheers, RickO

    DON'T DIP MS CLAD....EVER

The luster will be forever impaired.

This coin needs acetone or just plain soap or MS70
