Ugly coin with a surprise

LeeBoneLeeBone Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭✭✭
Presidential Dollars are about as ugly a coin as I`ve ever seen IMO.
I was going through some drawers today and found this one.(Why I even had it I`m not sure)
It had another coin sitting on top of it and the exposed part developed some cool looking color.

Same coin

Was it sitting in a wooden drawer or something else that might have contributed to the toning? I have the first dansco filled(PDS) so Ill have to go check mine to see if the colors are changing.

Cool. Kinda like a little lipstick on a pig. image

Yes it was in a wood drawer and inside of a plastic cup.

Like FTB pointed out, I`ve seen some crazy toning on raw coins that are just laying around my house. image

Neat colors - would probably BB as AT though 8-)

I think I would avoid putting any true collector coins in that drawer/cup though.

It isn't your house causing that toning. It's the second Pink Floyd picture in your sig line. image

You could have high sulfur or tannin levels in your house. Hum do you eat a lot of eggs? High humidity can make chemicals leach from wood also. I also agree with FTB and we will have to stop on buy with some raw coins about 300 a piece.
