The color on the 66 flows, from years of storage.
Both look nice
something was wonky with pops on those 1966 sp66bn's as all 3 of mine show pop to be 4
but wingedliberty1957 has one
and robec has one too
pop states 6 exist now
hmmmm

The pcgs population site takes a few days to update after any new coins are graded. I recall in the past seeing the pops jump about two to four days after I get my grades back; not sure how variable that time lag is though.

Some metals just don't tone... Steel rusts, Aluminum stains, White Metal oxidizes & pits.
Still I'm sure someone out there would still like to own your enhanced 43.

As Broadstruck said.... steel cents do not tarnish....so anything you may 'find' will be artificially enhanced. Cheers, RickO

Have to agree with this (at least based on my experience so far).
Here is one that NGC graded MS67 ...
But when sent to PCGS as a potential Crossover coin, it came back "Genuine - Altered Surfaces (Lacquered)"
And people still ask me why I don't like (don't trust) NGC !

the ex machinist i am....tosses this out
during coining the top surface of the metal coined...."loses it's integrity"
as anything in the atmosphere becomes impregnated into that top surface...."fused into it" under pressure and heat
most toning isn't below surface....it's on the top surface or patina due to the composition of the gases in the atmosphere
metal would have to be coined and stored in an inert or sterile atmosphere for the surface to remain pure
i get it that pcgs will not accept a toned steel cent
but surely some would fall into a natural state of accidental storage issues reacting to the patina being heat fused with whatever the mint's atmosphere contained
many steels are blued and parkerized which could in effect happen in less then idea storage conditions
not to the extreme of standard industrial bluing or parkerizing...but A mild form of it
say a gunsmith has a couple loose steel cents in a drawer on his work bench
they get exposed over years to bluing chemical as part of the atmosphere they are stored in
they could inherently adapt a blue tint
oh well

Can't find the image of my 43S, but it got the same treatment from PCGS as your 43P. I like yours very much. Copper is another metal that doesn't often achieve great color but it sure looks good when it does.
So that I can feel like I'm contributing here's another couple theme's on the toning scheme for SMS Lincolns:

<< <i>I think I recognize those last two SMS from a kryptonite auction >>
Great eye but not quite, sort of! Kryptonite sold several similar sets, but none I saw had this kind of ring or target toning. I did, however, buy one set from Kryptonite at auction and the first 1967 is from that set. But the last two 1967's came straight from the guy who I believe consigned those coins to Shane. So in a way, you were correctish.
