A Nice Capped Bust half dime I never attributed

I bought this nice little gem from Mike Printz when HJB sold the Broward County Type Set a couple of years back. It's PCGS AU58, and it's one of those AU58 coins that has the eye appeal of a higher grade. I was looking through my archives today, and realized that I never recorded the attribution or downloaded the full-sized images. I previously posted a small image, but didn't look up the die marriage. Turns out it's V2 (LM-3), and a R-4 die marriage. I incorrectly remembered it as an R-1 die marriage. Nothing like a good Self-Cherrypick to make your day!

and a nice one at that! A retained cud develops on the obverse and coins demonstrating that stage of die deterioration are (IMO) R-7.

Mine is also an AU58, looks earlier than yours.

I should have called this thread "Barndog Bait." image Your coin also has colorful toning, but it's prettier than mine. Wouldn't it be funny if they were stored in the same place for a long time, only to be reunited in this thread?

I wouldn't be surprised. Sometimes I see half dimes of the same die marriage (like ours) that are almost lookalikes. If only they could tell the story

Nice looking half dimes. I've started to pay more attention to them at shows. Not sure I want to head down the variety road yet though…

Are there any big bust half dime cuds that are collectable? (i.e., not super rare)

Both coins show well for the grade. Nice buy on both counts.
