Second U.S. coin purchase of 2015!

I noticed the recent "Key date" thread after I wrote this yesterday. I think the message is the same and echoes the statement made by Bill Jones on the first page. Enjoy.

Good purchase. I would also add that large cent collectors are increasingly being priced out of the early-date coins (1793 - 1814); this is prompting collectors to turn to middle-date coins like the one in this thread.

    Desertrat,

Good point. That is a demographic shift that should help these coins as well.

    Jim,

    I am enjoying it. image

One of the nicest '23 N-2's I've seen anywhere....I was thrilled just to acquire a F+ that wasn't dark.

Funny - I found myself priced out of the early date coins 25 years ago, the late dates were kind of boring, and felt the middle date offered solid value - so that's where I started my large cent collection!

Nice coin, plus like the write-up! That is the only date I have missing in my 1816-57 large cent date run. Been looking for a reasonably priced, attractive VF-20 to VF-30, but those seem to come few and far in between. I'd place the 1821 a close second behind the 1823 in difficulty.
