A Handbook of 20th-Century United States Gold Coins 1907-1933 by David Akers
United States Gold Coins An Illustrated History by Q. David Bowers

There is a book on US Indian Gold Coins that recall having seen and thumbed through but I don't have it and can't find a listing for it.

John Kutasi has or at one time had the top registry set. He has the handle on the coin forum of jpkinla, send him a note and he can tell you where to find the references you are looking for.
  • thanks a lot, this will be a good start.

I don't have any book recommendations, but I love these coins too and I second your interest and enthusiasm. A 1913 $5 gold Indian was my first gold coin and will always be closest to my heart.
