What's going on with this 2c?

Is that a strike thru on the obverse or PMD? Why would the reverse be completely gone with the obverse still showing details? I know it doesn't win any beauty contests. Thoughts?

    Definitely PMD, the reason the design is missing on the opposite face of the marks is that the area behind the punches was raised and wore down first as the coin circulated.

    some type of pmd...chopmark or counterstamp
