Bidder to consider blocking

This e-bay bidder won 5 items that I had listed on ebay for separate 10 day auctions. I have waited a week for payment of the 5 items, sent two invoice reminders and a couple of other polite e-mail reminders, but have heard nothing back. Finally I opened an unpaid item case for the items.

I don't know why people bid on items they don't intend to purchase, or at least why they don't have the decency to write to cancel or to ask for more time to pay? Total price for all 5 items was less than $400, but still it's the principle, I don't want to have to re-list items that I thought were sold or that I could have sold to others.

Bidders ebay name: oggeebeer61 (4)

Boy that really stings when they win multiple auctions and then don't pay.

Of course you can leave him a negative!.........oh wait, Ebay, in their Darwinian logic, got rid of that option.

Bummer. It does appear that he is new to ebay (at least with the 4 feedback) and maybe is just
out of the loop or having issues at home, family, work, etc.
A week is not out of the question for receiving payment but would sure have liked him to respond
to a message or email. Did you send it to his regular email addy or through the ebay message system?
Have you tried to call on the phone? As a buyer you can get his phone number...as part of the transaction.

    Let us know what happens.

I will give him some time to respond to the unpaid item case and try calling if I hear nothing... Will share if he comes through or not.

  • Now the hard part starts. You have to wait until eBay contacts him and then for him to reply to eBay
and wait for them to refund the final value fee then close the deal out which could take 5 to days of
wasted time you could relist items. Then you have to hold you breathe and hope he don't neg you
and you have to go threw the begging with eBay about the negs.

Yikes. He/she just bought two more coins... but still no communication or payment... I have not blocked him/her yet, just in case he/she pays. But now I'm waiting for payment on 7 items.

Iv'e been buying and selling on e-bay since 2002 and never seen anything like this. Trying to tell myself that the buyer is just the silent type, and will get around to paying...

I'm going to try and call the buyer in the morning. Any other suggestions?

    Am I overreacting?

Interesting ... did you aggravate someone in the past? Sounds like a tactic some people to use to "get revenge" on someone who they perceived did them wrong on eBay.

Regardless, I hope it all works out.

Ebay has a filter that allows sellers to ban/prohibit potential bidders with low feedback. I set mine up after multiple troll bidders won, then disappeared after some gold coin auctions of mine.

Use the Ebay automatic Unpaid Item Assistant. You just set the number of days you are willing to wait for payment and Ebay takes it from there. It takes a lot of the angst away and things happen automatically. You can shut it off on a case by case basis (e.g. the buyer contacts you and says he'll pay at the end of the month, etc.)

This Ebayer has been on a tear the past several weeks. Do you recognize any of these sellers? If you do, you can most likely reach out to them and see if they have ever been paid?

I sold a coin to a guy with a feedback of (3) on New Years Eve. When he failed to pay after a week I contacted him. He gave me a story about his wife spent money unexpectedly and was short. Asked for another week.

Now........silence. I canceled the transaction but E-Bay has to contact him to get his permission. What a crock. Now I have to wait for both of them to unwind a transaction. I just wonder how long this will take?

I think the best thing is to put a comment in every listing that payment must be made in 4 days per E-Bay rules or an unpaid case will be opened. Hell, they open a case against you when they want to send a coin back even if you have a "no questions asked" policy. Might as well have something to point to that requires buyers to be timely.

You know, the worst part of it all is......
Even though he bought 7 items from you, ultimately resulting in 7 different 'unpaid item strikes', ebay views all 7 items as one and will only issue 1 'unpaid item strike'. When smoeone should be 'NARU'ed' they are given chance after chance instead. Meanwhile your auctions have been trashed and the resulting re-listings will be viewed as 'used' material ......It's a shame....

I just got this response from the "buyer"...

"Good morning MONK2580 I apologize about this whole situation and reason being. I AM IN THE HOSPITAL with PNEUMONIA!!! I have not had any chance to contact you or the ability to Retract any bidding on those items considering how ill I was and still am. This is my first chance to make contact with you via my iPhone that my son brought to me last night. Even if I had it sooner I was too sick and had IV's tapped into me. I feel terrible about this MESS. Must go now &I will contact you later".

Reason I let eBay handle this sh1t when it hits the fan. Only worry about shipping on time when they pay. If they don't for any reason just relist after I get my fees back.

I have now blocked them. Contacted e-bay and am moving on.

I usually won't block anyone. Sometimes I want to scream in a pillow, over items costing under $5, too.
