OK, first of all, this is a 'Drunner thread', so I hope none of you dislocate your wrists in hitting "delete" with light speed . . . . image

Just a check in on the BST. Over the last two months I have purchased from 8 or 9 sellers, just trying to get a few nice Type coins. Random stuff, no Doilies or anything like that, just looking for the future and getting some fun stuff. I won't mention all the sellers, but you know who you are . . . . .

Nothing but superlatives. I am now just getting to a point where I go to the BST and observe daily ---- something I didn't do much for many years. The only limiting factor is that it is a small (relatively) collector and selling base, so it keeps my purchases down to a dull roar, but the individuals there are among the top collectors and individuals that one could hope to deal with in this 'Wild West' hobby.

Reliable and perfect packaging, easy and professional communication, personable people, trust that is expected but not crazy, and merchandise as advertised.

Sure, we always have to be vigilant. Sure, I had one weird exonumia deal years ago with a current member, but I chalked it up to just 'not a big deal'. Counter that with so many good situations here and I have realized I can really value my 'in-between-show' options to purchase here.

Thanks to all. Keep looking for the good in everything, and let us know when you get a bad one . . . .just don't get to worked up about it.

Go Packers!

  • I'd like to echo your sentiments about the BST. I have always had positive experiences.

I would like to give a shout-out to GoldCoin98, who I purchased a small lot of junk silver from a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it seemed that someone at the USPS got a little curious about what was in the package, as I received it partially opened (taped back up) and empty. GoldCoin98 refunded my money immediately and without me even having to ask. It is because of sellers like him that the BST is successful. Cheers

Not sure about the 'recent trending' part of this.....I'm going on 8 years of Buys and Sells, probably 300+ transactions with
119 different members over those years, and I've never been ripped off, or accused of ripping anyone off, and only been annoyed
    a handful of times.

I have had very good consistent results as mostly a buyer but at times a seller. I have added many coins to my core sets and have been quite pleased. image

All of my BST purchases have gone smoothly, and I think that this is a very nice aspect of the CU boards.

Vast majority of transactions have been terrific. I wish that there was even more volume on there.

    Agreed on all counts.

It's a small market, so you can't always find what you want, and you can't always find the buyer who really wants what you're selling, but I wouldn't wish for more volume if it meant any erosion in the general trustworthiness and graciousness that have prevailed there for years. I've done more transactions than I can count through BST over the last decade, deals ranging from a couple bucks to a couple thousand, and I can't think of a single one that has gone badly.

If I want to read a drunner thread, the first thing I have to do is click the little X in the task bar to make that airplane stop moving.

BST is great as it is. If only we could use some standardized listing method that would make searching for the coin you want much easier it could be even better.

  • Let me add to the chorus of praise and superlatives. I am primarily purchase foreign coins: Ireland, Celtic and Canadian. Might as well also admit to the occasional Classic Commemorative.

I find the Forums to be an excellent learning source. You know who you are. Thank you for the education. John
