I apologize in advance for the crummy I-phone pics. My photos don't show the luster coming through the tone on the obverse. The reverse is pretty much terminally toned, nothing is coming through that crust. I lightened up the reverse pic slightly so that some detail shows up in the photos.

The reverse looks like it was taken in the woods at night with no moonlight.

Can you re-try imaging your T$1???

AU 53? Reverse is sort of tough to read. I am kind of surprised it wasn't assigned "enviro damage."

My photos of the reverse are a very poor representation of what the reverse looks like in hand. When I lightened the photo, it made the light areas appear brown and creates a brownish looking reverse. It doesn't look like that in hand. It did straight grade at AU53. The NGC cert # is 3717668-002 if you want to check out their photo.

i bet alot of deep rich color

hope you don't mind...i lightened things up a bit to see
it was pretty darn dark

Looks like 58 detail.....do you think it got downgraded a bit due to the dark surfaces?

The toning is way too dark for my taste. The contrast with bright white plastic probably doesn't help.
I'd probably try to cross it with a min grade of 50 at PCGS just to improve the optics.

I like the coin and imo, that is what most would look like if never dipped.
Im always amused at how many collectors bow-out when shown a truly original coin.

I suspect that if you have really good photos taken (there are several very talented coin photographers who frequent these boards) that you will get oohs and aahs from the folks who love originality, as I do.
