Great find in a junk Morgan lot

USMarine6USMarine6 Posts: 2,101 ✭✭✭✭✭
Bought a lot of junk Morgans last night and was going through them this morning and came across this little nugget. Paid $21.78. I give it a vf25 or so. What say you?

Should make XF40 at PCGS. I have a PCGS XF45 that is only slightly better. The soft strike makes it easy to undergrade these.

I also got mine out of a junk box in 1996 or so. I pointed it out to the dealer, and he said, "I don't think those carry much of a premium. $11.00." The PCGS grading fee was more than the coin.

You must send the coin for grading!

A common VAM, but arguably the most popular one.

    Sweet find! YOU SUCK! image

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I think it's a 25-30, but I just can't see it as XF. (A reverse photo would help).
    When in doubt, don't.

I would be the good friend that he ripped off on it or I should say I gave him an excellent deal. Haha only joking but I did sell it to him as a lot so he scored. My mistake so I'm happy for him, hard to catch everything when going through a 100 morgan raw lot. Missed that one! Luckily he's a respectable individual and I can buy it for a fair price. Great rip! And you SUCK! Haha

Two words for you my friend, due diligence, LOL. So what does everyone think? Should I sell it back to him at a good price or should I keep it and tease him about it every time I see him?

The last XF40 that sold (a PCGS coin last week at Heritage) went for $223.
The last VF35 that sold (an ANACS coin in December on eBay) went for $175.
The last VF30 that sold (a PCGS coin in December on eBay) went for $115.
The last VF25 that sold (an NGC coin last week at Heritage) went for $112.

Raw coins sell for less in all grades.
    When in doubt, don't.

Might just be the photos but the first one shows a lot of green, so maybe hotlips needs a nude acetone bath prior to crawling into her transparent plastic negligee.
